JA Solar and TÜV Rheinland field test project shows advantages of n-type modules; DataMaker gets Fountainbridge financing; Zijinlong's Wuqia County PV power plant starts construction; Tianchen breaks ground on new solar cell and ESS facility; Grand Sunergy (Fengtai) Heterojunction Dual Carbon Industrial Park starts operations.
JA Solar's n-type module shows its advantages in field test: Vertically integrated solar manufacturer JA Solar and TÜV Rheinland recently reported the results of a 1-year energy yield test at the national outdoor yield test base for PV products in Qionghai, Hainan. The test aimed to study and verify the power generation performance of different types of modules, especially n-type modules and p-type modules. The plant is equipped with a set of DeepBlue 4.0 series n-type bifacial modules and a set of p-type PERC bifacial modules, with installed power of approximately 5kW for each set and a 6kW inverter each. The n-type modules yielded 4.32kWh/kW on average daily compared to p-type's 4.20kWh/kW. The results concluded that of n-type modules were found to have about 2.9% higher power generation capacity than the p-type modules. JA Solar was recently contracted by Ecorus to supply modules for the latter's PV power plant in the Netherlands (see Europe Solar PV News Snippets).
Fountainbridge exclusively invests in DataMaker: Developer and manufacturer of slot coating equipment DataMaker has announced that it has completed Series A financing. Amounting to tens of millions of RMB, this round of financing was exclusively invested by Fountainbridge. The company says that the proceeds will be mainly used for product research and development, along with market expansion. Slot coater is the key equipment for the wet process of perovskite cells, and DataMaker is among the few, if not the only, domestic manufacturer of a full range of coating machines. The company expects that its products can now meet the domestic demand for diversified coating areas. DataMaker says that its products have been widely used in dozens of universities, scientific research institutes, start-up companies and listed companies.
Zijinlong starts construction on 1 GW PV power plant in Wuqia County: PV manufacturer Zijinlong announced that it has started construction on its 1 GW photovoltaic power plant in Wuqia County, Jingke Prefecture. The plant will be spread across 31,500 acres, with a total planned investment of approximately RMB 4.5 billion ($617.2 million). Once up and running, it is expected to produce 2.1 billion kWh annually.
Tianchen starts construction on new solar cell and ESS manufacturing facility: Tianchen Shares has announced that it has broken ground for its 'Super Factory' in Wuhu City. Located in Fanchang District, the facility is being built at a total cost of RMB 11.6 billion ($1.59 billion) spanning about 660 acres. The factory will consist of a 20 GW energy storage system (ESS) and a 20 GW high-efficiency solar cell production line. Once at full production capacity, the facility is expected to generate RMB 30 billion ($4.1 billion) in revenues for the company. Initially engaged in real estate, transportation and logistics industry, Tianchen established the HJT module company with Huasun Energy with an 80:20 equity ratio respectively (see China PV News Snippets).
Grand Sunergy's 1st batch of facilities start operations: Grand Sunergy has announced that the 1st batch of facilities at the Grand Sunergy (Fengtai) Heterojunction Dual Carbon Industrial Park in Huainan City have started operations. The industrial park covers a total area of 630 acres and will consist of manufacturing facilities for solar cells and modules. In July 2023, the company had unveiled big plans for the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (see China PV News Snippets).
