- A report by Bloomberg says Beijing Jingneng Power is planning a 5 GW renewable energy project in China
- To be located in Inner Mongolia, the project will comprise solar PV, wind, energy storage and will help produce hydrogen
- On completion in 2021, RMB 23 billion worth 5 GW project is expected to generate 400,000 to 500,000 tons of hydrogen annually
Chinese state owned coal power company Beijing Jingneng Power Co., plans to build a renewable energy project with solar PV, wind, energy storage technologies to power hydrogen production. Referring to a local Chinese media report, Bloomberg says Beijing Jingneng will invest RMB 23 billion ($3.3 billion) on bringing the project to fruition that’s reported to eventually have 5 GW capacity in total.
The entire complex is expected to come online in 2021 as it enters construction this year. On completion it is planned to generate 400,000 to 500,000 tons of hydrogen annually.
The Bloomberg report says this 5 GW project is planned to come up in northern Chinese region of Inner Mongolia, but individual capacities of various renewable energy technologies within this complex are not known.
