NEA releases Jan-Sept 2022 power industry statistics; LONGi wafer prices remain unchanged; Luoyang Glass to supply tempered glass products to Trina; Guangdong Zhengye to build cell/module production facilities; Hunan Red Sun TOPCon equipment wins bid.

NEA releases latest national power industry statistics: Releasing the national power industry statistics from January to September 2022, China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) said:

  • The country’s cumulative installed power generation capacity at the end of September was about 2.48 TW, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%. In this, the installed capacity of solar photovoltaic power generation is about 360 GW, an increase of 28.8% year-on-year.
  • The power projects of major power generation enterprises in the country completed an investment of RMB 392.6 billion ($53.73 billion), a year-on-year increase of 25.1%. Among them, solar photovoltaic power generation equipment was at RMB 132.8 billion ($18.18 billion), a year-on-year increase of 352.6%. The investment in power grid projects was at RMB 315.4 billion ($43.17 billion), a year-on-year increase of 9.1%.

LONGi announces silicon wafer prices: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi recently released its latest monocrystalline silicon wafer prices. Compared with the prices released in September 2022 (see China PV News Snippets):

  • the price of single crystal silicon wafer P-type M10 155μm thickness (182/247mm) has not changed and stands at RMB 7.54/piece ($1.03/piece),
  • the price of single crystal silicon wafer P-type M6 160μm thickness (166/223mm) has not changed and stands at RMB 6.33/piece ($0.87/piece).

Luoyang Glass to supply 30 GW tempered coated glass products to Trina: Float glass manufacturer Luoyang Glass announced that it has got into a purchase contract with Chinese module manufacturer Trina Solar and its 8 subsidiaries. As per the contract, Luoyang will supply 30 GW of tempered coated glass products for single-glass and double-glass photovoltaics to Trina and its subsidiaries from November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2024. In September, Luoyang Glass had completed China National Building Materials (Hefei) New Energy’s PV equipment cell packaging materials facility for ultra-thin products (see China PV News Snippets)

Guangdong Zhengye to build HJT cell and module facilities: Producer and seller of industrial inspection intelligent equipment, Guangdong Zhengye Technology, said that it plans to sign an investment contract with Jingdezhen High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee through its holding subsidiary. With this, the company will be investing in the construction of facilities with an annual output of 5 GW PV modules and 8 GW HJT photovoltaic cells in Jingdezhen High-tech Zone. The facilities will be constructed in three phases and will attract an investment of RMB 5 billion ($0.68 billion).

Hunan Red Sun TOPCon equipment wins bid: New energy product research and development company Hunan Red Sun said via WeChat that the new generation of photovoltaic TOPCon process core equipment – boron diffusion equipment, independently developed by the company, has successfully won a bid for cell production expansion. The company had laid out new technology routes – TOPCon cells and HJT cells – to manufacture a new generation of solar cells with higher conversion efficiency and lower production costs. It then launched 5 research equipments based on TOPCon and HJT processes. The equipment that won the bid is based on the new TOPCon process, and uses a new cooling technology to improve production efficiency.
