LONGi Surpasses 500 MW in Cumulative ACM Module Shipments

Vertically integrated PV manufacturer LONGi has announced that cumulative shipments of its modules featuring Advanced Contact Matrix (ACM) technology have exceeded 500 MW. The milestone follows the start of mass production in July 2026. ACM modules use a patented nano-alloy material and matrix contact process, achieving an ISFH-certified cell efficiency of 27.6% and a maximum module power output of 672 W certified by TÜV Rheinland.

LONGi says ACM technology increases the conductive cross-sectional area of grid lines by 5 to 7 times compared with conventional designs, reducing resistance to one-fifth to one-seventh while cutting the risk of grid breakage by 80%. It cites mass production data showing the technology improves cell efficiency by 0.2% to 0.3%, resulting in a module power gain of 3 W to 5 W.

CHN Energy Plans 500 MW Co-located Offshore PV Project in Jiangsu

Guohua (Jiangsu) Wind Power, a subsidiary of CHN Energy, plans to develop a 500 MW co-located offshore solar pilot project in the Zhugensha area of Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. The project will be integrated with an existing offshore wind farm, with 500 MW of AC capacity and 646.86 MWp of DC capacity. Covering approximately 686.97 hectares of sea area, the project will use a full-grid-feed-in model and is expected to generate around 733 million kWh annually.

The project is part of Jiangsu's offshore PV development strategy. Under the province's 2025-2030 implementation plan, 60 potential offshore solar sites have been identified with a combined capacity of 27.25 GW. Jiangsu aims to reach 15 GW of cumulative grid-connected offshore PV capacity by 2030, with a target of 20 GW.

China Huadian Connects 60 MW Dairy Farm Rooftop PV Project

Anhui Huadian New Energy, a subsidiary of China Huadian, has connected a 60 MW AC solar project at Modern Farming's facility in Wuhe County, Bengbu City, Anhui Province. The company describes it as Asia's largest single-site dairy farm rooftop PV project. The project covers 560,000 m² of cowshed rooftops and adjacent vacant land and includes a 16.5 MW/33 MWh energy storage system for grid peak shaving.

The project is expected to generate an average of 84 million kWh annually. The solar panels also provide shade and cooling for livestock, combining solar generation with animal husbandry.

Last month, China Huadian grid-connected its 500 MW offshore PV project in Changli County, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China Promotes Renewable Energy and Smart Microgrids in Coal Mining Regions

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Energy Administration (NEA) have released the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) for the coal industry, promoting the integrated development of coal and renewable energy. The plan prioritizes PV and wind projects on coal mining subsidence areas, reclaimed land, and industrial sites, with Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Xinjiang identified as key regions.

The plan also supports intelligent microgrids with coordinated source-grid-load-storage control, integrating solar, wind, energy storage, and smart management platforms. It encourages electrochemical storage at open-pit mines, direct green power connections, and Green Electricity Certificate (GEC) trading to increase renewable energy consumption in the coal industry.
