GCL SI publishes perovskite tandem cell research breakthroughs

PV module manufacturer GCL SI announced that, together with Yangzhou University, it has published 2 research papers in Solar RRL on the progress in improving the stability and efficiency of perovskite tandem cells.

For cesium-based 2D perovskites, the research team proposed a humidity-assisted air-annealing strategy. Without additives or passivators, device efficiency increased from 5.33% to 15.52%, while retaining 90% of its initial efficiency after 1,300 hours of storage in a nitrogen environment.

For tin-lead mixed perovskites, the team introduced a ‘molecular anchor’ (DBF) at the buried interface. The configuration achieved peak efficiencies of 22.27% for a 0.072 cm² device and 20.66% for a 1 cm² device, maintaining 94% of its initial efficiency after 1,200 hours in nitrogen.

GCL SI noted that these advancements effectively suppress defect formation by precisely regulating crystal growth and interface properties, adding that this lays a technical foundation for the scaled commercial application of high-efficiency perovskite tandem products.

In December 2025, GCL SI announced it had achieved a CPVT-certified efficiency of 33.31% with its GTC perovskite tandem solar cell (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Reesun enters pre-restructuring

PV module manufacturer Jiangsu Reesun Solar Technology’s application for pre-restructuring filed in February has been formally accepted by the Jianhu County People’s Court in Jiangsu Province. The ruling places the company under a 6-month pre-restructuring period.

Established in 2021, Reesun’s core team and controlling shareholders originated from PV manufacturer Jiangxi Risun Solar Technology. According to its website, the company currently has 3.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and an annual capacity of 2 million m² for BIPV modules.

China Datang wins bid for 2.6 GW RE project supporting computing power park

The government of Zhongwei City in Ningxia has announced the results of a competitive selection for the Phase II supporting renewable energy project of the Zhongwei Big Data Computing Power Industry Green Power Park, naming China Datang as the winning bidder. The tender, launched on February 12, covers 2.6 GW of renewable capacity, including 600 MW of solar PV projects and 2 GW of wind power projects.

Huaneng Renewables targets at least 2.49 GW of new project commissioning in 2026

Huaneng Renewables, a renewable energy development subsidiary of China Huaneng Group, outlined its construction plans for 2026 and the 15th Five-Year Plan period during a recent planning and engineering conference.

The company said it will continue developing large-scale renewable bases while selectively expanding distributed energy projects. For 2026, it aims to commission at least 2.49 GW of renewable capacity and start construction on an additional 3.25 GW.

Earlier this year, China Huaneng brought online a 2 GW photovoltaic project in Bayannur, Inner Mongolia (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Yunnan’s Honghe Prefecture launches bidding for 2.22 GW of renewable energy projects

Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan Province has launched a new round of competitive bidding to select developers for renewable energy projects. The tender will allocate 34 projects with a combined capacity of 2.22 GW, including 22 centralized wind projects totaling 1.56 GW and 12 centralized solar PV projects totaling 660 MW. Final bidding results are expected by the end of March.
