Germany Installed 573.8 MW Solar In June 2022

• Germany's total solar installations in June 2022 added up to 573.8 MW, taking the H1/2022 numbers to 3.217 GW
• It compares to 548 MW installed in the month of May 2022, and 2.75 GW in H1/2021
• Solar PV was the largest renewable energy installation source in H1/2022 in Germany when compared to 1.05 GW of onshore wind and 12.46 MW of biomass technologies

Germany's half year solar PV installations in 2022 have crossed 3.217 GW with the addition of 573.8 MW in the month of June 2022, according to Bundesnetzagentur, placing the country on track to exit the year with over 6 GW cumulatively, finally inching towards the record annual installation levels of over 7 GW in 2010-2012.

These numbers compare to more than 2.75 GW solar capacity added by the country in H1/2021 (see Germany Installed 482.5 MW New Solar In June 2021).

In comparison, onshore wind energy additions in June 2022 were 199.7 MW, followed by 1.86 MW biomass, and zero for offshore wind. Hence, in H1/2022 onshore wind installations added up to 1.05 GW, and biomass to 12.46 MW.

For solar PV, the June 2022 installations comprise 364.5 MW from solar systems installed outside the Renewable Sources Act (EEG) tender scheme, and 6.78 MW from ground mounted systems outside the program. In May 2022, the Federal Network Agency said new monthly solar installations reached a total of 548 MW (see Germany Installed 548 MW Solar In May 2022).

Germany exited 2021 with 5.26 GW as per the agency, while SolarPower Europe's (SPE) Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2022-2026 report sees the country having installed 6 GW in 2021 and is forecasting additions of 7.4 GW in 2022 (see Global Cumulative PV Capacity Exceeds 1 TW).
