Solar manufacturing in Odisha: CESC Green Power Limited, a subsidiary of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC Limited), part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has secured in-principle approval from the Government of Odisha for its INR 45 billion solar manufacturing plans. Following the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority, CESC will now advance its plans to establish a manufacturing facility for 3 GW of solar cells, 3 GW of solar modules, and advanced solar components. The facility will also comprise advanced chemistry battery cell pack manufacturing capacity of 5 GWh. It will be equipped with a 60 MW AC captive power plant in Dhenkanal district.
6 GW factory plans advance: Jakson Group has laid the foundation stone of its planned 6 GW integrated solar manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. This sets in motion Phase I of the factory at the Maksi Phase II site in Ujjain district, which will see the establishment of 3 GW solar cell and 4 GW module manufacturing capacity. Future phases will bring backward integration into ingot and wafer production. Jakson Group had unveiled its INR 80 billion plan for a 6 GW integrated fab in August 2025 (see Jakson Engineers’ INR 80B Plan For 6 GW Solar PV Manufacturing).
ALMM List-II updated: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar cells with the 2nd revision. It expands the listed capacity to 18.48 GW with the addition of 602 MW monocrystalline PERC bifacial cell capacity of Websol Energy System Limited. In the 1st revision, MNRE included TP Solar’s 4.48 GW monocrystalline PERC bifacial and 53 MW monocrystalline TOPCon bifacial solar cell capacity, and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited’s 280 MW bifacial mono c-Si PERC capacity in September 2025. The ALMM List-II mandate will come into force from June 1, 2026 (see India To Impose ALMM For Solar Cells From June 1, 2026).
Air Liquide’s RE PPA: French industrial gases company Air Liquide has signed its 1st long-term renewable energy agreement in India. AMPIN will supply 6.6 MW of renewable electricity from its wind-solar hybrid project to Air Liquide’s facility in Jhagadia, Gujarat. This will help the company meet nearly 60% of its on-site electricity needs with clean energy and abate around 22,000 tons of carbon annually, announced AMPIN.
1 GW RTC power tender: The Railway Energy Management Company (REMCL) has awarded its 1 GW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy supply tender to 6 companies. Ayana Renewable Power (140 MW), Jindal Green (150 MW), Bhalki Solar Power (200 MW), Purvah Green Power (180 MW), and ReNew Solar Power (200 MW) for the winning tariff of INR 4.35/kWh. According to Mercom India Research, ACME Solar Holdings won 130 MW under the bucket-filling method at the same tariff. A joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd, REMCL launched the tender in July 2025 (see Indian State Agencies Launch RE Tenders For 2.2 GW Capacity).
Hybrid projects partnership: Inox Wind Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KP Energy to jointly develop 2.5 GW of wind-solar hybrid projects in India. Local media referred to an Inox statement to report that KP Energy will be responsible for project development activities and EPC works, while Inox Wind will supply wind turbines and provide engineering support.
