NHPC is seeking developers for 1.2 GW solar capacity at Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh, divided into 4x300 MW projects
Selected developers must commission the NHPC solar projects within 18 months of signing the PPA
REMCL has issued a 1 GW RTC renewable energy tender for Indian Railways, open to solar, wind, and hydro projects, with or without storage
Indian hydropower utility NHPC Limited is inviting solar power developers for 1.2 GW PV capacity at Jalaun Solar Energy Park at Jalaun in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It has launched the tender on behalf of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, an NHPC joint venture with the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).
The entire capacity will need to be installed as 4 subprojects with 300 MW capacity each. Winners will need to commission the projects within 18 months from the effective date of the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA).
NHPC issued the call on July 28, 2025. Bids can be submitted till September 8, 2025.
This tender from NHPC follows its 1.2 GW solar tender with 600 MW/2,400 MWh of ESS capacity, along with 1.2 GW under a greenshoe option, in March 2025 (see NHPC’s 2.4 GW Solar & Storage Tender With Greenshoe Option).
1 GW RTC renewable energy tender
Another public entity, REMC Limited, formerly known as the Railway Energy Management Co. Ltd., is also looking for project developers for 1 GW of round-the-clock (RTC) power from grid-connected renewable energy projects with or without a storage component.
A JV between the Ministry of Railways and the ministry’s engineering consultancy RITES Ltd, REMCL is the nodal agency of Indian Railways for the implementation of renewable energy projects. REMCL is seeking renewable energy under an RTC arrangement for the Indian Railways.
Projects can be located anywhere in India; even accompanying storage projects need not be located at the same location as the renewable energy project. Solar PV, wind, and hydro are the eligible technologies for this tender. The minimum bid capacity is 100 MW. A single winner can win the entire 1 GW on offer.
The broad scope of work for the renewable energy developers will be to establish the projects along with the dedicated transmission network up to the interconnection/delivery point, as well as to secure all requisite permits and clearances at the state and local levels.
REMCL will enter into a PPA with the winners for 25 years. “Power procured by Buying entity from the above Projects has been provisioned to be availed in different states where Railways is availing power under Open Access,” reads the tender document.
The Indian Ministry of Power had waived off inter-state transmission system (ISTS) charges for solar, wind, hydro, pumped storage projects (PSP), and battery energy storage systems (BESS) if these facilities were commissioned by June 30, 2025. If the selected projects had come online by this deadline, they would get the benefit of the waiver of ISTS charges.
REMCL will be accepting bids in response to this tender launched on July 24, 2025 till August 25, 2025.
