Vertically integrated solar PV and ESS manufacturer Trinasolar has received a Level 2 ESG rating certificate from Sustainable Fitch, a globally recognized rating agency. Scoring a total of 81, Trinasolar ranked 1st among participating companies in the Asia-Pacific region and secured the top position among solar module manufacturers worldwide. Sustainable Fitch highlighted Trinasolar's significant contributions to climate change mitigation and clean energy transition, noting its alignment with international taxonomies such as the EU Taxonomy. Given the company's strong focus on environmental sustainability, Sustainable Fitch designated Trinasolar as a Pure-Play Entity.
Trinasolar recently signed a technology cooperation agreement with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) to advance AI-based energy storage solutions (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Leading solar PV and ESS supplier JinkoSolar has announced its FY2024 preliminary unaudited financial results, under PRC GAAP. The company’s revenue fell 21.96% year-over-year (YoY) to RMB 92.62 billion ($12.75 billion), while its net profit attributable to shareholders plummeted 98.78% to RMB 90.54 million ($12.47 million). Excluding extraordinary items, Jinko reported a net loss of RMB 1.01 billion ($139,072,483). The declines were driven by lower PV product prices.
Jinko says it maintained resilience through technological advancements, capacity optimization, and strong overseas channels. The company said that despite its cost reduction efforts, its financial performance was significantly impacted by pricing pressure, production capacity adjustments, and a fire accident.
Perovskite maker UtmoLight has announced that it has achieved a new global efficiency record for perovskite modules at the square-meter scale. Verified by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a 0.72 m² perovskite module from its 150 MW pilot production line showed zero degradation for over 950 seconds under maximum power point tracking (MPPT) testing. The module achieved a stabilized full-area efficiency of 18.1%, corresponding to a power output of 130.5 W, which the company claims is a new world record.
UtmoLight obtained IEC 61215/61730 certification for a 120 W module with a full-area efficiency of 16.7% in November 2024, the then highest-efficiency perovskite module to pass IEC stability testing. With the latest certified efficiency of 18.1%, the company states large-scale commercialization of perovskite technology is becoming increasingly feasible.
Last month, UtmoLight commissioned its 1 GW perovskite solar module production line in China (see World’s ‘1st’ GW-Scale Perovskite Solar Module Fab Online In China).
Microinverter manufacturer Hoymiles has reported total revenues of RMB 2.03 billion ($278.08 million) for FY2024, up a mere 0.25% YoY. The company’s net profit attributable to shareholders fell 32.24% YoY to RMB 346.84 million ($47.48 million). Hoymiles attributed the decline in profitability to increased expenses related to talent acquisition, expanded market promotion, and enhanced R&D investment as part of its strategic growth initiatives.
Solar module maker Gokin Solar’s back contact (BC) modules have obtained IEC 61215:2021 and IEC 61730:2023 certification from TÜV Rheinland. The company claims these modules can achieve a maximum power output of 685 W and a conversion efficiency of over 24.5%. Gokin Solar says it has integrated innovative technologies such as copper electroplating, optical conversion film, and zero busbar (0BB) design, enabling high efficiency and low degradation while providing excellent resistance to potential-induced degradation (PID) and light-induced degradation (LID).
Late last year, AIKO Solar and Gokin Solar announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop the BC product ecosystem (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
