The growing share of renewable energy is increasing the importance of storage for balancing variable solar generation and supporting grid stability. This is particularly relevant for energy-intensive applications such as artificial intelligence data centers (AIDCs), which require high-capacity power and storage systems.

Leading integrated solar + storage manufacturer JA (previously JA Solar) presented its application-specific PV modules and integrated PV and storage solutions at the TaiyangNews Global PV System Technology Trends – SNEC & Intersolar Product Review Virtual Conference. Speaking at the event, Ignacio Espinosa, Head of the European Technical Team at JA, discussed the company’s products for six application scenarios showcased at SNEC 2026 and Intersolar Europe 2026.

These included JAxPlateau for AIDCs with high energy consumption, JAxOcean for marine applications, JAxDesert for arid regions, JAxCity for urban infrastructure, and JAxHome for residential systems. The company also highlighted JAxFuture, covering next-generation technologies including space PV.

In its module portfolio, JA presented its TOPCon-based DeepBlue 5.0 series for residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), and utility-scale applications, with power ratings ranging from 485 W to 670 W and efficiencies of up to 24.8%. The previous-generation DeepBlue 4.0 was also part of its display, primarily targeting utility-scale applications with power ratings of up to 745 W (see JA Displays Advanced PV Technologies And Storage Solutions)

For residential applications, JA also presented its HYPERGEN Pro BC series, which is scheduled for launch in Q4 2026. It offers up to 495 W power output and 24.8% efficiency. JA intends to develop TOPCon and back-contact (BC) technologies in parallel.

The company presented anti-glare modules for airports, roads, railways, and urban areas. The modules feature textured glass for standard low-glare requirements and acid-etched glass for locations requiring greater glare reduction.

JA has developed integrated PV and storage product platforms for residential, C&I, and utility-scale applications. In his presentation, Espinosa focused mainly on the utility-scale solution, which combines high-power PV modules with large-capacity storage. He presented AIDCs as a key application scenario because of their high power requirements. Combining PV with BESS can also enable renewable energy systems to support grid functions such as frequency and voltage regulation.

For the module component of this solution, JA is promoting its TOPCon-based DeepBlue 5.0. According to Espinosa, the module balances cost and efficiency and incorporates 1/3rd cut cells. He explained that using fewer cuts reduces the number of potentially sensitive points in the module, supporting reliability and quality control (see JA’s TOPCon 2.0 Modules And Hybrid BESS).

As part of its AIDC solution, the company has developed what it calls the 6D Robust ‘super module’. The product features enhanced hail and fire resistance, higher mechanical load capability, hot-spot resistance, higher module efficiency, and anti-dust, self-cleaning functionality. It is designed for installations exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

The module is complemented by the company’s JAGalaxy containerized BESS, which uses high-energy-density cells and a liquid-cooled battery system with a capacity of 6,261 kWh.

The system is integrated with the JANebula Edge 900 EMS and JANebula SCADA platforms, which collectively provide real-time monitoring, edge-cloud integration and energy optimization. According to the company, the complete solution will be commercially available soon.

Under JAxFuture, JA highlighted thermal transfer and perovskite-silicon tandem technologies, reporting 31.27% efficiency for its 120-format tandem cell. JA also presented its space PV development. Its space PV module concept is based on 60 μm ultra-thin crystalline silicon and perovskite tandem technologies, with cell efficiency exceeding 30% for a commercial-sized G12H cell and a power-to-weight ratio above 2 W/g. JA is developing the technology for applications requiring high power density, low weight, and radiation stability. Espinosa indicated that this program remains under development and is not yet a commercial product offering.
