  • JinkoSolar has reported 26.89% efficiency for its 182 mm high-efficiency n-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell
  • It incorporated the company's proprietary HOT technologies and some material upgrades to achieve the efficiency
  • The efficiency claim, as the company stated, has been independently confirmed by China's National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center

China-based global solar modules supplier JinkoSolar Holding has announced achieving 26.89% maximum solar conversion efficiency for its 182 mm high-efficiency n-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell.

Calling it a new record for its 182 mm and above large-size monocrystalline silicon TOPCon solar cells, JinkoSolar said the result has been independently confirmed by China's National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center.

Indeed, JinkoSolar's new M10 format device has the highest cell efficiency recorded so far, overtaking the former cell record of LONGi Solar. In Nov. 2022, LONGi announced the previous world record efficiency for crystalline solar cells at 26.81% based on its proprietary HJT cell technology (see LONGi Breaks Long-Time Silicon Solar Cell Record). At the time, LONGi created history as it broke an over 5-year lasting world record set by Japan's Kaneka in 2017 with an efficiency of 26.7%.

"JinkoSolar's self-developed HOT technologies, and a series of material upgrades were integrated into the cell process to set this new record for maximum conversion efficiency of 26.89%," stated the management.

Without sharing any specific details, the manufacturer said its R&D team developed advanced metallization enhancement technology, high energy bulk material passivation technology and high performance light trapping passivating contact technology which are applicable to large area solar cells.

Previously, in December 2022, JinkoSolar achieved 26.4% conversion efficiency for its 182 mm high-efficiency n-type TOPCon monocrystalline silicon cell (see 26.4% Efficiency For N-Type Monocrystalline Silicon Solar Cell).
