Key Takeaways
  • Runergy introduced its next-generation TOPCon cell with a certified conversion efficiency of 26.9% at Intersolar Europe 2026

  • The full-area bifacial cell incorporates upgrades in passivation, cell architecture, and manufacturing processes

  • The company offers modules based on its TOPCon and PERC module portfolio

Chinese solar cell and module manufacturer Runergy introduced its next-generation TOPCon cell technology at Intersolar Europe 2026. According to the company, its full-area bifacial n-type TOPCon cell achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 26.9%, following independent verification by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE). The company states that the efficiency was measured on a full-area bifacial cell rather than a designated active area. It attributes the improvement to advances in cell architecture, passivation, and manufacturing processes.

According to the company, the new cell platform combines 3 technology developments. The first is RunPass, its proprietary rear-side passivation process, which is designed to reduce carrier recombination losses and improve open-circuit voltage. The second combines high-sheet-resistance diffusion with hydrogen passivation on the front side to reduce surface recombination and improve carrier collection. The third is the Powerloss in-house real-time analysis system that identifies efficiency losses across the manufacturing process to support process optimization. According to Runergy, the combined improvements also enhance wafer-edge uniformity, contributing to higher cell efficiency.

The company did not disclose module specifications based on the new cell technology platform. The TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES listing includes 2 commercially available Runergy modules based on TOPCon and PERC technologies. Its HY-DH144N8 Plus bifacial dual-glass TOPCon module delivers up to 600 W with a module efficiency of 23.2%. Built with 144 half-cut 182 mm n-type cells, the module features 80±5% bifaciality and is backed by a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance warranty.

The company’s HY-WH144P8 p-type PERC module series delivers up to 560 W with 21.7% module efficiency. The 144 half-cut cell module uses 3.2 mm anti-reflective tempered front glass and carries a 12-year product warranty and a 25-year linear performance warranty.
