Key Takeaways
  • MAHAGENCO’s 300 MW solar PV tender seeks EPC bids for the installation, testing, and commissioning of solar plants

  • Setting up power evacuation systems up to the STU substation and O&M also falls under the broad scope of work

  • Each project must have a minimum capacity of 25 MW AC at a single location, with developers allowed to install up to 100 MW AC across 4 locations

Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (MSPGCL) or MAHAGENCO has invited bids from EPC contractors for up to 300 MW AC grid-connected ground-mounted solar PV projects under Phase II.

The EPC package includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, inspection, installation, testing, and commissioning of the capacity, along with the associated power evacuation system up to the state transmission utility (STU) substation. Winners will also be required to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) for the facilities.

A single project at a single location must have a minimum installed capacity of 25 MW AC and be located anywhere in the state of Maharashtra. Maximum capacity can go up to 100 MW AC across 4 locations.

Eligible bidders must have developed ground-mounted solar PV projects with a cumulative installed capacity of 30% of the quoted capacity and at least 1 plant with 15 MW AC capacity that has been operational for at least 6 months.

The net worth of a bidder as on March 31, 2025, should not be less than INR 125 lakh/MW AC for the quoted capacity.

MAHAGENCO launched the tender in February 2026. The last date for bid submission is April 21, 2026.

The state of Maharashtra targets around 100 GW of renewable energy capacity and around 35 billion units/year, or 100 GWh/day energy storage capacity, by FY 2035-36 to meet growing electricity demand as per the Maharashtra Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Policy 2025-26 to 2035-36.

It aims to install at least 10 GW of new contracted renewable energy capacity comprising solar PV, wind, and wind-solar hybrid projects with co-located storage by FY 2029-30 and 25 GW by FY 2035-36.

In January 2026, MAHAPREIT launched a call for a 100 MW AC floating solar PV project in Thane District (see Maharashtra Launches 100 MW Floating Solar PV Tender).
