NGEL has invited EOIs from businesses, discoms, power aggregators, and institutional buyers to procure power from a 100 MW solar project with 50 MW/200 MWh battery storage in Uttar Pradesh
The project will be developed by NTPC UP Green Energy Limited, an NGEL JV with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam
Interested buyers must have a minimum demand of 5 MW, with submissions open from March 23 to April 23, 2026
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the green energy arm of India’s NTPC Limited, has invited expressions of interest (EOIs) from interested offtakers to procure power from its upcoming 100 MW solar PV project with 50 MW/200 MWh of battery storage in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
It is open to industries, commercial establishments, power aggregators, discoms within the state of UP, and institutional buyers.
It has launched the call for EOIs on behalf of NTPC UP Green Energy Limited (NUGEL), a joint venture (JV) between NGEL and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. The JV is mandated to establish solar projects of up to 2 GW in UP, starting with a 100 MW solar project and a 50 MW/200 MWh BESS, to contribute to NTPC’s overarching goal of achieving 60 GW renewable energy capacity by FY 2032.
It is open to interested buyers with a minimum requirement of 5 MW. Power aggregators can also group smaller industries and establishments to achieve an aggregated demand of 5 MW or above. Power will be supplied during solar generation hours as well as peak power demand during non-solar hours using a battery energy storage system (BESS).
The aim is to ensure a reliable power supply and peak power availability at affordable tariffs to the offtakers who are seeking sustainable power solutions. It will also broaden access to clean energy for smaller industries.
“This hybrid solar-plus-storage configuration not only enhances grid stability but also offers buyers the flexibility of renewable energy support, making it an attractive and future-ready solution for sustainable industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh,” reads the EOI document.
NUGEL will enter into power purchase agreements (PPAs) with selected companies shortlisted through this EOI.
NGEL issued the call with NIT No. NUGEL/EOI-01/2026-27 on March 23, 2026. It will accept submissions till April 23, 2026. Details are available on NTPC’s tender website.
Earlier this year, in January 2026, NGEL launched tenders for 600 MW solar PV projects across India. This included a 250 MW ground-mounted PV project with 50 MW/200 MWh, 4-hour BESS in Uttar Pradesh aimed at supplying power to defense establishments (see NGEL Floats EPC Tenders For Over 600 MW Solar Projects).
