Oman is assessing the potential for renewable energy development in Musandam
It has invited consultants to examine multiple generation and storage technologies rather than a single option
Interested consultants have until late September 2026 to submit proposals under the new tender
Oman has launched a tender to seek specialist technical and economic advice on potential renewable energy projects in its Musandam Governorate.
Oman’s sole electricity and water procurer, Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP), has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for techno-economic consultancy services for the Musandam Renewable Energy Feasibility Study.
The tender seeks to assess the feasibility of several renewable energy and storage options in the governorate. According to the tender document, the appointed consultant will assess renewable energy options including solar PV, wind, hybrid renewable energy configurations, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
It will also consider other renewable energy and energy storage technologies where they are technically and economically justified.
The tender document purchase period runs from August 24, 2026 to September 3, 2026, while bids must be submitted by September 24, 2026. The tender is listed under number OPWP/2026/035 on Nama PWP’s website.
This tender follows Nama PWP’s call for financial and commercial consultant services to support 3×1 GW solar IPP projects (see Oman Seeks Consultants For 3 GW Solar PV IPP Capacity).
Earlier, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) said the country plans to install over 5 GW of new solar PV capacity by 2030 under its Five-Year Annual Capability Statement (2026-2030) (see Oman To Install Over 5 GW Solar PV Capacity By 2030).
