Texas, US based electricity utility El Paso Electric (EPE) has launched a request for proposal (RFP) round to seek solar EPC companies for 10 MW AC utility scale solar power capacity which may or may not be accompanied by a 3 MW battery energy storage system.
Interested bidders have the option to submit pricing for either 10 MW AC project alone, or for 10 MW AC solar with 3 MW/4-hour battery energy storage system (BESS).
Eligible projects need to be located within EPE’s Texas or New Mexico service region, however preference will be given to the ones sited within Texas. EPE said although it has a preference for EPC proposals, it is open to considering a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a minimum of 30 years.
According to the EPE, this project is the expansion of its existing, fully subscribed Texas Community Solar Program. It is the 2nd expansion of the program after the 1st time in April 2017 when it was launched as a voluntary green energy option for customers. It is open to all residential and commercial customers of EPE in Texas service territory.
Launched on February 1, 2022, the last date to submit proposals is April 4, 2022. Letter of intent needs to be submitted by prospective applicants by February 22, 2022. Details are available on EPE’s website.
