Phase 3 of Tongwei Meishan high-efficiency crystalline silicon facility produces first cell; Trina Solar’s Vertex S module available in Australia; Shandong Quanwei expands in HJT cell and module production; JinkoSolar sees strong demand in Q4
Record fast installation for Tongwei’s Meishan cell production facility: Integrated solar PV manufacturer from China Tongwei Solar announced that its Meishan high-efficiency crystalline silicon facility, currently in phase 3, has successfully produced its first cell. The company said that in this phase, it took only 9 days from equipment entry to equipment commissioning and installation, to producing the first cell, which is considered to be a record timing. This 9 GW facility is Tongwei’s ‘first intelligent and high-efficiency n-type workshop.’ Tongwei target 70 GW cell production by end of year, according to its website. Trina Solar’s Vertex S module now in Australia: Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina said that its internationally awarded Vertex S Aesthetic module is now available for purchase in Australia. Used primarily for residential rooftops, this module has high power output and efficiency, coupled with aesthetic appeal. As the demand for residential rooftops grows, Trina has been ensuring that there are wider choices in module designs to complement various styles of roofs, its says. Trina Solar’s Vertex modules have been achieving higher power output and efficiency by using 210mm technology, a larger wafer size than earlier generation modules. Shandong Quanwei invests in HJT cells and modules: Technical services provider for solar power generation, Shandong Quanwei has invested about RMB 12.2 billion ($1.72 billion) to build facilities with an annual output of 15 GW heterojunction cells and modules each, and a 5 GWh energy storage line, according to local media reports. Spread across 2,000 mu, these facilities will be built in two phases. In the first phase it plans include to build a 2 GW HJT module facility and 1 GWh energy storage production line with an investment of RMB 1 billion ($0.14 billion).
JinkoSolar releases investor activities report: Disclosing an investor relations activities report, module supplier JinkoSolar said that in the fourth quarter, there has been strong demand and order books have been full so far. The company expects that with the substantial increase in supply, the imbalance between supply and demand of silicon materials will gradually improve, and bring back prices to normal. Jinko emphasized that the conversion efficiency of its n-type 182-size TOPCon cell in the laboratory touched 26.1%, while the efficiency of mass production has exceeded 25%. In terms of modules, the highest conversion efficiency of its 182-size n-type TOPCon module in laboratory has reached 23.86%, while the efficiency of the mass-produced TigerNeo series of 72-cell single-sided modules is at 22.3%, which means as 3rd rank in the TaiyangNews Commercial Modules Efficiency Ranking (see Top Solar Modules Listing – October 2022).
