Arctech obtains first IEC Certification for SkySmart II: Solar tracking, racking and BIPV solutions provider Arctech Solar recently obtained IEC certification for its signature SkySmart II, a string-powered single-axis solar tracker designed to significantly increase stability under strong wind conditions. This 2P tracker also allows for a modular configuration of several fix-fix and fix-free spans, which enables it to accommodate all panel dimensions and string sizes. With the IEC 62817 certification, this 2P architecture becomes the world’s first IEC certified tracker with a synchronous multi-point driving system. The certification was granted by TÜV Rheinland Group.

China State Grid announces third batch of renewable energy subsidy projects for 2021: Announcing the third batch of renewable energy power generation subsidy projects for 2021, the State Grid Corporation of China said that about 1,637 projects have been approved and the total registered capacity is 5 GW. Among them, there are 79 centralized and 1,532 distributed solar power projects; and 23 power generation projects with an approved capacity of 270 MW.

Sungrow 21 MWh solar-plus-storage plant in Japan operational: Solar PV inverter supplier Sungrow’s 21 MWh utility-scale solar-plus-storage project in Hokkaido, Japan, has been put into operation since December 2020. Sungrow had supplied both PV inverters and energy storage systems to the project, spread across 85 hectares. The project has 6 MWdc PV capacity, while AC connection to the grid is limited to just 845kWac, which makes energy storage an ideal solution allowing power to be fed into the grid 24 hours a day.
