Longyuan signs 6 GW integrated power projects: New technologies developer China Longyuan Power Group has announced that it has signed 6 GW of integrated power projects with Jingdezhen city government. Broken down, the 6 GW includes 2 GW of thermal, 2.6 GW wind and 1.4 GW of solar power. The 2 parties aim to establish a long-term strategic cooperative relationship and jointly promote the development and construction of this project. In February this year, the company announced an agreement with the People’s Government of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County to invest in a 5 GW new energy project (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

LONGi’s 8 GW Jiaxing module fab starts production: Module manufacturer LONGi Solar has announced the commissioning of its 8 GW monocrystalline module facility in the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone. The company has invested a total of RMB 4.7 billion ($645.3 million) in the 330,000 sq. m. facility that is spread across 400 acres. With the start of construction in January of this year, the fab is expected to hit a production capacity of 10 GW when it becomes fully operational in May 2024. Recently, LONGi announced that it has achieved a world record 33.9% efficiency for crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells (see LONGi Announces Impressive Tandem Solar Cell World Record).

Safety Group subsidiary commissions high-efficiency TOPCon cell facility: Anhui Mei Da Lun, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Safety Group Co. Ltd. (formerly Jiangsu Safety Wire Group Co.), has started production at the 5 GW Phase I of its 10 GW high-efficiency TOPCon cell facility. Located in Mingguang City, Anhui Province, the 273-acre facility is being built with a total investment of RMB 8 billion ($1.1 billion).

Grand Sunergy breaks ground on 10 GW Heterojunction Dual Carbon Industrial Park: Grand Sunergy has announced the groundbreaking of its 10 GW Heterojunction Dual Carbon Industrial Park. The plan for Phase I of the project is to build 2.5 GW of annual capacity each for high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) cells and large-size PV modules. The company plans to invest a total of RMB 5.2 billion ($713.8 million) in the 200,000 sq. m. facility spread over 526 acres. Once at full capacity, it is expected to generate RMB 7.5 billion ($1.03 billion) in revenues and RMB 1 billion ($137.3 million) in profits annually, while creating more than 1,200 jobs.

Lenovo subsidiary receives equipment for Phase I 5 GW high-efficiency PV cell facility: Zhengqi Holdings, a subsidiary of Lenovo Holdings, has announced that it has received the 1st batch of equipment for the 1st phase of its 5 GW n-type high-efficiency cell facility. The facility is part of a 20 GW high-efficiency n-type solar cell intelligent manufacturing base which is planned to be constructed in 3 phases. The 1st phase, which is expected to be up and running within this year, is expected to generate RMB 5 billion ($686.3 million) in revenues in 2024.
