Belectric plans to return to UK EPC space; FitzWalter Capital partners with Peridot Solar; Ireland finalizes RESS 2 auction; Ellomay brings online 28 MW solar in Spain; BayWa secures 214 MW module order in Germany & commissions 7.5 MW project.

Belectric goes back to the UK: Germany’s solar EPC company Belectric says it is going back to the UK solar market as a solar projects construction company. Having constructed its last solar farms back in 2015, and been involved in storage projects till 2019, Belectric had been providing operation and maintenance (O&M) services in this market for solar power plants so far. The company says using its existing structures in the country, it plans to now return to the market as EPC service provider. Pointing at the ‘bright period of growth’ in the UK market, Belectric Solar’s Managing Director Barry Bennett said, “The UK market has been our home for over 10 years. We are pleased to live in a time when there is such a growth expected for the next few years.” The 1st projects are already in progress, it says. In December 2021, Elevion Group acquired the European and Israeli businesses of Belectric Solar & Battery from RWE Renewables (see Belectric Ownership Changes To Elevion Group).

Partner for Peridot Solar: Global private investment firm FitzWalter Capital has partnered with European solar development company Peridot Solar. The latter is into development, construction and operation of solar PV projects on the continent with its offices in London and Milan. It already has more than 1 GW of solar power projects in Italy and the UK, and plans to build 5 GW by 2026. Peridot Solar is on track to start construction of 120 MW solar PV plants in Italy and 60 MW in the UK in 2022.

Ireland approves RESS 2 auction results: The Irish government has finally approved auction results for round 2 of its Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) under which it selected 1.948 GW of wind and solar power capacity (see Ireland Selects 1.9 GW+ Under RESS 2 Auction). It equates to 1.534 GW of solar and 414 MW of onshore wind capacity. Projects selected will come online between 2023 and 2025 helping increase close to 20% of the country’s current renewable energy generation capacity.

28 MW solar plant online in Spain: Ellomay Capital has grid connected a 28 MW solar power plant in Spain’s Talaván, Cáceres. It has started generating electricity, but complete commissioning of the project is scheduled by June 24, 2022. It was constructed by the renewable energy developer’s subsidiary Ellomay Solar. Power generated will be sold at market prices which has significantly increased in all of Europe of late, including in Spain, said Ellomay. “Based on the current market prices and current projections of market prices, the expected revenues from the sale of electricity by the Ellomay Solar PV facility for the next 18 months is approximately €9.5 million,” it added.

214 MW module order for BayWa: Germany’s BayWa r.e. has secured a contract to supply 214 MW worth of solar modules in the country, translating into over 380,000 panels to Enovos portfolio company Solarkraftwerke Südeifel GmbH & Co KG. All of these panels will be used by the latter for 11 solar systems in Südeifel. The systems are designed to support retrofitting of large storage systems in the future.

BayWa has also announced commissioning a 7.5 MW solar park with 3 MW/4 MWh battery storage capacity in Germany’s Villingen-Schwenningen, Baden-Württemberg. It has secured the project under Bundesnetzagentur’s innovation tender.
