• Solar power project development of 75 MW capacity has begun on 5 projects in far eastern region of Russia
  • Out of these 5, the city of Chita in Zabaykalsky Krai will host 30 MW capacity in the form of 2 projects
  • Buryatia’s 3 districts will be home to remaining capacity of 45 MW, with the entire 75 MW expected to come online in autumn of 2019

Five solar power plants with a combined capacity of 75 MW have entered construction in the eastern part of Russia with commissioning scheduled for autumn of 2019. A Russian-Austrian consortium of Vienna based ground mount solar PV project developer Green Source Consulting GmbH and renewable energy company Vershina Development LLC is implementing the solar power plants.

The consortium Core Value Capital GmbH is working on Orlovsky GOK and Baley solar power plants in the city of Chita in Zabaykalsky Krai with a total capacity of 30 MW. The other 45 MW is being constructed in the Republic of Buryatia – Tarbagatai, Kabanskaya and BVS solar power plants in the districts of Kyakhtinsky, Kabansky and Tarbagataisky.    

Details about individual project capacities and the technology to be used or the investment required to develop these projects were not revealed in an official statement released by Vershina.

We plan to complete construction by the end of this year and bring all five power plants to the wholesale market,” said Pavel Shevchenko, CEO of Vershina Development LLC. “Further in the plans of our company is the expansion abroad. We are actively working on project development and discussing with potential investors the creation of a fund to finance renewable energy projects in other countries.”

Core Value has already constructed 4 solar power plants with 60 MW capacity in Astrakhan region. It is developing 75 MW in cooperation with general contractor Gildemeister LSG Beteiligungs GmbH.
