NTPC commissions 42.5 MW floating solar capacity at Ramagundam in Telangana; AGEL raises $228 million to initially support 450 MW hybrid solar and wind projects; SECI issues NIT for 44 MW AC solar; Bharti Airtel acquires 7.036% stake in Avaada solar SPV.

42.5 MW floating solar capacity online: State owned utility NTPC has commissioned 42.5 MW of floating solar power capacity at Ramagundam Floating Solar Project, taking the total operational capacity of the 100 MW facility to 80 MW. It had previously brought online 17.5 MW under part I and 20 MW under part II. This facility is coming up next to the utility’s Ramagundaam Coal Power Plant with 2.6 GW in Telangana. Earlier NTPC said the 25 MW floating solar facility it commissioned at 2 GW Simhadri Thermal Power Station Reservoir in Andhra Pradesh was the country’s largest such facility (see India’s ‘Largest’ Floating PV Facility Online).

AGEL raises $228 million construction facility: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has extended its Construction Financing Framework facility to a total of $1.64 billion with the addition of $228 million for its under construction renewable asset portfolio through definitive agreements with international lenders. The lenders are BNP Paribas, Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A., Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A., MUFG Bank, Ltd., Societe Generale, Standard Chartered Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The new facility will be used to initially finance 450 MW of hybrid solar and wind project portfolio in Rajasthan. It supports the company’s vision to target 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.

SECI launches 44 MW AC solar tender: The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a notice inviting tender (NIT) for 44 MW AC ground mounted solar power plant in Telangana for The Singareni Collieries Co Ltd. Broad scope of work spans design, engineering, erection and commissioning of the capacity at different sites, along with 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M). While the agency will upload tender documents at a later date, the NIT with no. SECI/C&P/PMC/11/0003/2021-22 can be viewed on its website.

Bharti Airtel to acquire stake in another solar SPV: Bharti Airtel Limited has signed an agreement with Avaada Indiclean Private Limited to acquire 7.036% stake in Avaada KNShorapur Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed for the captive solar power plant. It has been formed to develop, execute, manage and run up to 10 MW solar power plant generation in Karnataka. Recently, the company invested in another Avaada SPV acquiring stake in Avaada CleanTN Project Private Limited (see India PV News Snippets).
