AFD financing for Celec: The Electricity Corporation of Ecuador (Celec EP) has secured a non-reimbursable financing worth €250,000 by the French Development Agency (AFD) to study solar potential in the national territory and using solar PV technology to develop a portfolio of new energy projects, electricity generation on a medium and large scale. The study is expected to take 8 months to complete and includes 10 potential pre-feasibility projects for future investment, said Celec.
800 MW hybrid RE project in Peru: BNamericas has reported the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines to have granted temporary concession to Fener Peru for its 800 MW Windica Wind and Solar Complex. It means the company will be able to use the site for 24 months to carry out its feasibility studies, to be extended for another year if needed. The hybrid renewable energy facility is planned for Santiago district in Ica region which is home to some wind energy farms already.
Akuo Energy’s Colombian PV project: Akuo Energy of France has broken ground on site of its 26.55 MW Parque Planeta Rica solar power plant in Colombia. It is building the project in a joint venture with MPC Energy Solutions (MPCES). The PV facility is being built in Cordoba department and is contracted under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Celsia. The project will be constructed by Consortium Planeta Rica and is scheduled to come online in Q2/2022. Akuo said, “The solar plant will help the country to diversify its electricity mix which currently depends heavily on hydropower vulnerable to extreme climate conditions and fossil fuels.”
