GCL FBR granular silicon production to touch 10,000 tons: Chinese polysilicon and silicon wafer supplier, GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited, has said that by the end of 2020, the effective production capacity of granular silicon based on Fluidized Bed Reactor (FBR) is expected to increase from the current 6,000 metric tons to 10,000 metric tons. With a decade of technological know-how in polysilicon operation and management, enhanced by the FBR technical team and proprietary equipment acquired from SunEdison, Inc. in the USA in 2017, the FBR-based granular silicon production has finally managed a major technological breakthrough, GCL claims. The existing production capacity of granular silicon has achieved continuous stable production, commercial mass production and market sales, and the quality of products has also been optimized and improved, it added.

State Grid Jilin to build 600 MW PV project in Shihezi: State Grid Jilin Province Electric Power Co., Ltd. announced that it will be constructing a 600 MW photovoltaic demonstration project in Shihezi, Xinjiang, with a total investment of RMB 2.25 million ($0.34 million). The project will be divided into 7 sub-projects for investment and construction purpose and will see the installation of 525W/440W monocrystalline PERC bifacial modules.

Hangzhou First to accelerate 500 million sqm PV film production in Chuzhou: World leading EVA and backsheet manufacturer Hangzhou First said that the company intends to increase investment in the production of 500 million m2 of photovoltaic film in Chuzhou. The investment amount is expected to be about RMB 300 million ($45.82 million). In October, the company had achieved an operating income of RMB 5.469 billion ($0.82 billion) in the first three quarters of 2020, a year-on-year increase of 19.1% (see China PV News Snippet: Hangzhou First, Tongwei, Xigaze, JA). In September, Hangzhou First said it hopes to lower its production costs by expanding its capacity by 25 GW for solar PV film, and by 22 GW for backsheet (see China PV News Snippets: Hangzhou, Canadian Solar, Sofar Solar).
