Risen Energy publishes breakthrough on UV stability of HJT cells

Integrated solar manufacturer Risen Energy’s Global PV Research Institute, in collaboration with Southeast University, has published in-depth mechanistic research on the UV stability of n-type heterojunction (HJT) solar cells and modules. The team developed a low-UV damage continuous PECVD process, optimizing hydrogen content to 33% in the (a-SiOx:H)i1 passivation layer and 25% in the (a-Si:H)i2 layer. As a result, carrier lifetime increased 3.6 ms and UV-induced degradation (UVID) reduced from 1.59% to 0.71%. The research, titled Enhancing UV light stability in commercial silicon HJT solar cells and modules, was published in the journal Solar Energy. Risen says this is the first study to systematically reveal the atomic-level mechanism behind UVID in HJT technology and to propose a novel mitigation strategy.

Recently, Risen Energy announced that the average power output of its HJT-based Hyper-ion series modules in mass production has officially surpassed 740 W (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Yingli Solar leads development of 2 PV industry standards

Solar cell and module maker Yingli Solar has led the drafting of 2 new photovoltaic industry standards that have been included in the China Photovoltaic Industry Association’s (CPIA) standard library. The first standard, Labels for Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules, unifies technical specifications for labeling, covering solvent resistance, abrasion resistance, and mechanical properties, thereby ensuring product traceability throughout the module’s service life. The second, Edge Sealing Perforated Tape for Crystalline Silicon Dual-Glass PV Modules, defines parameters such as hole diameter, thickness, and width of the tape, significantly improving production efficiency and product quality of dual-glass modules.

Speaking of PV standards, LONGi’s Dennis She and TÜV Rheinland’s Dr. Gao Qi spoke at length about industry quality standards in an exclusive interview with TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela at SNEC 2025 (see LONGi, TÜV Rheinland Partner To Elevate PV Quality Standards).

Zhongli Group removes special treatment status on stock

Talesun Solar’s parent company, Zhongli Group, has officially removed the Special Treatment (ST) risk warning from its stock as of July 9, 2025, and the stock abbreviation has reverted from ST Zhongli to Zhongli Group. In May 2024, the company received an administrative penalty decision from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), triggering ST status under Shenzhen Stock Exchange listing rules. Zhongli Group has since rectified all issues related to financial data discrepancies and misappropriation of funds by the former controlling shareholder. The company stated it now fully meets the conditions for removing the risk warning.

In April, Zhongli Group said in its 2024 report that it had successfully completed a restructuring process and that it expected its operations to gradually return to normal (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

World's largest green hydrogen-ammonia project begins production

Envision Group has commissioned the 320,000-ton first phase of its 1.52 million tons per year green hydrogen-ammonia plant in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. The facility is recognized as the world’s largest green hydrogen-ammonia initiative powered by a new-type power system. It utilizes 100% renewable electricity sourced directly from co-located wind, solar, and storage projects. Bureau Veritas issued ‘the world’s first’ ISCC Renewable Ammonia Certificate for the project’s initial tank of green ammonia on the day of commissioning.
