Poland’s Onde Lands Its Largest Solar Contract To Date, In Poland, & More From Qair, Holaluz, Emeren, MET Group

Onde’s largest PV contract to date in Poland; Qair gets Bpifrance as investor; Holaluz and Banco Santander join hands for solar in Spain; ReneSola changes brand identity to Emeren Group; MET commissions 96 MW solar in Hungary.

Onde announces 122 MW project win: Polish EPC service provider Onde has announced bagging its largest PV project deals to date with Qair Polska hiring it to build 3 farms with 122 MW combined capacity. All the projects will be equipped with a more than 200,000 modules altogether. Onde plans to complete the works by the end of Q1/2024. Onde’s Vice President Piotr Gutowski said, “Our order book has grown significantly in recent weeks, which gives us grounds for optimism when it comes to revenues in 2023. It is worth noting that the new contracts with Qair are one of our largest PV projects so far.”

Onde also announced raising PLN 56 million from mBank to cover up to 75% of total project costs of Cyranka PV farms in Poland. Both the projects Giżycko 1 and Giżycko 2 that make up Cyranka, are the 1st in the company’s portfolio that it is implementing on its own, it added. The company did not reveal capacity of Cyranka projects.

Bpifrance invests in Qair: French independent renewable energy producer Qair has secured French public investment bank Banque publique d’investissement (Bpifrance) as its new shareholder. Qair said its presence will enable the company to accelerate its development in France and internationally. The French company counts its installed capacity of renewable energy technologies as onshore & offshore wind, solar, energy from waste and hydro power among others as adding up to 1 GW. It touts its current pipeline under development as 30 GW. In France, it is developing over 1 GW of onshore and offshore floating wind, solar, tidal and renewable hydrogen projects. Qair said with this investment, Bpifrance joins the funding round initiated by DIF Capital Partners.

Holaluz and Banco Santander partner for solar: Spanish renewables company Holaluz has entered a strategic alliance with Banco Santander to offer its solar panel installation for customers of the bank. It plans to cover almost 2,000 branches of the company in the country and 1,000 agents and digital channels of the entity. While Banco Santander will provide green financing to customers under preferential conditions, Holaluz said the offer includes the management of grants and subsidies that cover up to 50% of the installations, thanks to the Next Generation funds.

ReneSola rechristened as Emeren: Solar power projects developer ReneSola Ltd has changed its corporate name to Emeren Group Ltd, and released a new logo with a tagline of Empowering Renewables. Management led by CEO Yumin Liu said the rebranding and the new name symbolizes the ‘remarkable transformation we have undergone over the past 5 years and reflects the strategies we have implemented’. Its NYSE stock trading name will be changed to Emeren Group Ltd by February 9, 2023, but it will continue to use the ticker SOL. Notably, in October 2022 ReneSola acquired its partner for the Italian solar PV market, UK headquartered utility scale solar and storage company Emeren Limited (see ReneSola Takes Over UK Solar Projects Partner).

MET Group commissions 96 MW PV in Hungary: MET Group has announced commissioning of 2 solar power plants in Hungary with 51 MW and 45 MW capacity. Both MET Gerjen Solar Park and MET Söjtör Solar Park respectively, were brought online over several phases and are equipped with close to 180,000 solar panels. The Swiss natural gas and power company targets to grow its renewables capacity to 2 GW installed capacity by 2026.
