- The Tunisian Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies has awarded 60 MW out of total 70 MW solar PV capacity it tendered in 2018
- Six winners, comprising 4 individual companies and 2 consortiums, have secured 10 MW each
- The Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas will be the sole offtaker of power from these projects
- The ministry did not provide information on 10 MW out of 70 MW tendered relating to smaller projects of 1 MW each
Tunisia has published the results of its 70 MW solar PV tender, which was originally announced in mid-2018 (see Another 70 MW PV Tender In Tunisia). It has awarded 60 MW of the 2-part tender. However, the country’s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies doesn’t mention if it awarded also the second part of the tender, which includes capacities of 1 MW each for a total of 10 MW.
Winning 10 MW each in the auction are:
- ABO Wind AG,
- Bejulo GmbH,
- Enerland 2007 Fotovoltaica,
- VSB Energies Nouvelles,
- a consortium of Lac Tech SARL & ET Solar International,
- a consortium of Aurasol, Suneq GmbH and Suntrace GmbH.
This 70 MW tender round was the country’s second under its so-called authorization regime that refers to smaller projects. In the first round, out of 70 MW, it awarded 64 MW. Power generated by the projects will be purchased by the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (STEG).
In January 2019, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) issued a request for proposals from consultants to conduct environmental and social analysis for 5 solar PV project sites in Tunisia for a total 500 MW capacity. These will be developed under a concession regime that relates to larger projects to be developed on state-owned sites (see EBRD Seeking Consultant For 500 MW Tunisia Solar).
