  • JinkoSolar has reported 26.1% efficiency for its high efficiency n-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell
  • It has been achieved for its 182mm and above large size TOPCon solar cell and confirmed by China’s NIM
  • This is an improvement over 25.7% efficiency it reported for the same cell back in April 2022

Chinese solar cell and module producer JinkoSolar Holding has achieved 26.1% power conversion efficiency for its high efficiency 182mm n-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell calling it a ‘new record’ and ‘major technical breakthrough’.

26.1% is the maximum efficiency it has achieved for its 182mm and above large size TOPCon solar cell, independently confirmed by the National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China.

It is an improvement over 25.7% efficiency the manufacturer reported for this cell in April 2022 that it fabricated on a high-quality CZ mono-Si substrate (see 25.7% Efficiency Record For N-Type Mono-Si Solar Cell).

The Chinese company said its self-developed HOT technology and a series of material upgrades were integrated into the cell process to reach this level of record conversion efficiency, over the previous high of 25.7%.

The cell has been made using interface defect passivation, highly transparent polysilicon film and ultra-thin metallization technologies based on laser dopped selective emitters, developed by the company’s R&D team.

“We are proud to achieve a major breakthrough in the conversion efficiency of N-type TOPCon cells in less than half a year, breaking the record we have previously set for N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cells,” said JinkoSolar’s CTO Dr Jin Hao. “We will continue to invest in R&D innovation and mass production capabilities, and to accelerate the pace of industry upgrading for advanced N-type product.”

JinkoSolar just moved up 8 spots to 2nd position on TaiyangNews’ Top Solar Modules Listing—September 2022 with its Tiger Neo TOPCon module after it reported efficiency of 22.65% and top power rating of 585W for the product (see Top Solar Modules Listing—September 2022).
