37 Bidders For Ecuador’s 500 MW RE Auction

  • Technical offers will be opened on October 28, 2022 and economic offers on December 28, 2022

Ecuador’s Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources says 37 companies from 13 countries have registered their interest in the country’s 500 MW renewable energy tender that includes 120 MW solar PV capacity.

Remaining capacity is bifurcated between 150 MW small hydroelectric, 200 MW wind and 30 MW biomass technologies. The auction was launched under Block of Non-Conventional Renewable Energies (ERNC) in December 2021 along with 400 MW as a natural gas combined cycle block (see Ecuador’s 900 MW Energy Tender Out).

Interested bidders are from Argentina, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, Republic of El Salvador, France, Spain, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Dominican Republic.

Projects can be established anywhere across the country and will be selected basis lowest price bids. Interested companies can either develop new projects under the auction or pick up from the project portfolio compiled by the ministry.

Technical offers are due to be opened on October 28, 2022, while economic offers will be opened on December 28, 2022. Final winners will be announced on January 18, 2023.
