- AEPEP has launched a RFP round to seek power from solar and wind power facilities in the US
- For PJM region, offtake will be arranged from new and existing solar and wind energy projects
- In the ERCOT region, only new solar PV facilities are being sought with REPA of 12 years or less
- These agreements will enable AEPEP support its growing retail and wholesale loads
US utility AEP Energy Partners (AEPEP) has invited proposals to offtake power from new and existing solar and wind energy facilities in PJM and new solar facilities in ERCOT region to support its growing retail and wholesale loads in these regional transmission grids.
Contracted offtake capacity will be used for the Columbus, Ohio Electric Service Aggregation Program as well.
The company has provided a list of locations to have projects sited in both the transmission centers. For new solar facilities in PJM locations, the renewable energy purchase agreement (REPA) will be signed for 10, 12 or 15 years, and for existing projects the contract will range between 5 years to 15 years.
As for new solar projects in ERCOT region, REPA term will be 12 years or less as per the request for proposals (RFP) round.
The RFP is also open to projects not selected in the April 2022 RFP with a fresh application. It has completed negotiations with the winning projects of this round (see AEPEP Wants Up To 500 MW RE In US).
Launched on December 16, 2022, AEPEP will accept proposals till January 13, 2023. According to the schedule, shortlisted candidates will be revealed in February 2023 and expected REPA execution timeline is Q2/2023. Further details are available on AEP’s website.
