  • LONGi has secured a 2-year module supply agreement for its bifacial solar modules to be deployed in the US
  • 500 MW capacity sought by Strata Solar may be followed by additional volume commitments for 2023, by the end of 2021
  • Strata Solar decided on procuring LONGi’s bifacial modules after the studying additional energy gain by the latter’s modules under a comprehensive study

LONGi Solar through its US based subsidiary LONGi Solar Technology US has secured a long term contract for its bifacial solar module technology with Strata Solar that has placed an order for 500 MW capacity to be supplied over the next 2 years.

LONGi says under the non-exclusive agreement, the US based utility scale solar and battery energy storage systems company Strata Solar will purchase 500 MW of bifacial monocrystalline module capacity. Both parties may agree on additional volume commitments for 2023 by the end of 2021.

The decision to procure LONGi modules was taken by Strata Solar after it carried out a comprehensive study into the impact LONGi’s bifacial technology has on the performance of a solar installation of Strata Solar on the East Coast. It replaced a string of monofacial modules with LONGi’s bifacial modules to evaluate additional gain in energy production.

“This additional long-term partnership, similar to other Strata supplier relationships that have been in place, will allow Strata to continue its commitment to high-efficiency, high-reliability, and high-quality solar products to support the growth and sustainability of our business over the next three years,” said Strata Solar’s CEO Markus Wilhelm.

In December 2020, LONGi secured an ‘exclusive’ order for 200 MW HI-MO 5 bifacial modules for a Chinese project (see LONGi Hi-MO 5 Bifacial Modules For Chinese Project).

LONGi will be speaking at the TaiyangNews virtual conference on Advanced Module Technologies for Rooftop & Utility Scale Applications on January 27 & 28, 2021. It is a launchpad for the 2nd edition of TaiyangNews Advanced Solar Module Technology Report. Registrations can be done free here.
