The TaiyangNews Cell Production Equipment Report, published recently, discussed the innovations in cell production equipment. As a follow-up, TaiyangNews is now organizing a virtual conference to expand the coverage and dialogue on production equipment.
At the TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Cell & Module Production Equipment & Processing Materials, Chun Zhuang, CTO of CETC Red Solar, will be presenting on the topic titled: Milestones in Metallization: Advances in Silver Pastes for Establishing Metallic Contact Across Cell Architectures.
The Conference is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 09:30 to 13:00. For the full agenda, please visit our website. Click here to register for free.
Solar PV manufacturer JA Solar has announced that its self-developed 210 mm half-cell commercial-sized perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar cell has achieved a new efficiency record of 31.27%. The forward scan photoelectric conversion efficiency reached 30.54%, while the reverse scan hit 31.27%, both certified by the Fujian Institute of Metrology.
JA Solar stated that this achievement is a critical step in the industrialization of perovskite/Si tandem technology, laying a solid foundation for future commercialization.
In June 2025, JA Solar reported that its subsidiary Chengdu Jingxin Mingneng Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd., was advancing an R&D pilot line for crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
PV tracker manufacturer Arctech has decided to terminate its 3 GW tracker manufacturing and demonstration base in Inner Mongolia. Initially announced in 2022, the company had planned to invest RMB 306 million ($42.5 million) in this facility, including RMB 236 million ($32.8 million) from raised funds.
Arctech cited weaker-than-expected demand for tracker systems from large-scale ground-mounted solar plants compared to initial projections, making it difficult to achieve the expected returns. The company concluded that continuing the project would no longer meet its development needs.
In late July, Arctech Solar announced its forayed into solar module manufacturing (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Solar cell equipment maker LAPLACE reported H1 2025 revenue of RMB 3.062 billion ($425.8 million), up 20.49% year-over-year (YoY). Net profit excluding non-recurring items was RMB 339 million ($47.1 million), up 6.8% YoY. LAPLACE also reported 93% revenue growth in 2024 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
The company also shared updates on its high-end PV equipment R&D and production headquarters project in Shenzhen, with a planned total investment of RMB 798 million ($111 million). It stated that construction has already started, with operations expected to start in 2027.
Renewable power developer and operator Linyang Energy reported declines in both revenue and profit in H1 2025. The company’s revenues fell 28.35% YoY to RMB 2.481 billion ($344 million), while net profit excluding non-recurring items dropped 43.85% YoY to RMB 318 million ($44.2 million).
Constituent-wise, its renewables segment is reported to have over 1,225 MW of solar PV, wind, and storage projects under construction, 495 MW started construction, and more than 200 MW connected to the grid. Additionally, its total O&M renewable capacity now stands at over 20 GW.
The energy storage segment reported cumulative delivery and grid connection of over 5 GWh, with 10 GWh in the project pipeline. In H1, newly developed domestic storage projects totaled 1.3 GWh, with over 7 GWh planned/reserved for H2.
As of the end of June, the company’s annual energy storage system capacity reached 10 GWh, with a 2 GWh project in Saudi Arabia scheduled for commissioning within 2025.
