Canada has included a 816 kW solar project under a CAD 10 million financial support program for clean energy; PNC Bank will source power from 78 MW Constellation Energy solar project; Amber and Hudson Energy sell 100 MW solar plant.
CAD 10 million for RE: The Government of Canada has announced investments worth CAD 10 million ($7.7 million) to support 5 clean energy projects in Saskatchewan. It includes over CAD 1.6 billion for a 816 kW solar farm of Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) Solar Energy in Tecumseh municipality. The project will be 100% owned by the nine First Nations of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council and located on indigenous-owned lands. According to the government this solar facility will be stepping stone for the community to develop other renewable energy projects. Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources Jonathan Wilkinson said the 5 projects that the ministry is supporting with this investment will enhance understanding of energy use and support renewable energy technology in rural, remote and indigenous communities.
80 MW solar for PNC Bank: PNC Bank has entered into a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Constellation Energy to source around 148 million kWh of solar power annually from 78 MW solar power capacity. This clean energy from Mammoth Central, will be used by the bank to power nearly 50% of its legacy operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, District of Columbia and parts of Illinois. It will enable the bank to reduce its CO2 footprint by more than 55,000 metric tons (MT) annually. The Mammoth Solar Project once complete by 2024-end, will have 1.3 GW capacity and will be one of the country’s largest solar farms on completion. Israel’s Doral Energy launched the project’s construction with Swinerton Renewable Energy as its EPC service provider and plans to use Risen Energy’s bifacial solar modules and Nextracker trackers (see North America PV News Snippets).
Amber sells 100 MW solar plant: Amber Infrastructure and Hudson Energy Enterprises have sold 100 MW solar project in New York that was one of the winners of a competitive procurement process conducted by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to secure 20-year agreement for Renewable Energy Credits. The Flint Mine Solar utility scale facility in Greene County will be the largest solar facility in NYISO Zone G once it is up and running, stated Amber.
