The cumulative installed solar PV capacity of Portugal at the end of July 2022 reached 2.224 GW, with the addition of 546 MW in H1/2022, according to latest installation numbers released by the country’s Direcao Geral de Energia e Geologia or Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG).

Energias de Portugal SA (EDP) has commissioned what it calls as the largest floating solar plant in all of Europe with 5 MW capacity, located on a reservoir in Portugal’s Alqueva paired with a 1 MW battery energy storage capacity (BESS) having around 2 MWh storage capacity.
