- Philadelphia Solar and Translucent Solar have joined hands for US solar module manufacturing
- They plan to bring online a 1.2 GW mono-PERC fab by Q4/2024, catering to all market segments
- By 2025, the JV Trading Philadelphia Solar will transition to heterojunction panels
Jordan based solar panel manufacturer Philadelphia Solar and US located module maker Translucent Energy have announced a strategic partnership to bring online a 1.2 GW manufacturing line for US made mono-PERC panels by Q4/2024, and transition to heterojunction (HJT) technology by 2025.
The joint venture (JV) called Trading Philadelphia Solar, LLC will produce mono-PERC modules with 400W to 410W and 530W to 550W. It claims to have the ‘means to immediately meet’ the US demand for these panels priced as Delivered Duty Paid (DDP)/Landed Duty Paid (LDP) with no unexpected costs, and no delivery or permitting complications.
Plans include vertically integrated module production from silicon to ingots, bricks, wafers and cells to provide ‘exceptional quality PV modules’ targeted for all segments from utility scale to residential. Exact location of the proposed fab was not disclosed in an official statement.
“With global supply chains facing unprecedented disruption, many US-based solar developers are struggling to find a reliable and cost-effective source for their solar panels. The exceptional response we are seeing from developers demonstrates that our joint venture addresses a key market need,” said Translucent Energy CEO Nour Mousa.
Philadelphia Solar currently has an annual production capacity of 580 MW through which it caters to over 50 countries. It also supplies steel mounting structures along with providing EPC services for utility scale, commercial and industrial plants.
Recently, Italy’s Enel Group said it plans to establish a 3 GW bifacial HJT cell and module fab in the US and scale it up to 6 GW in the future. It is also currently looking for a suitable location (see More Europeans Heading To US For Solar Manufacturing).
