- Dominion Energy has opened a new RFP round to acquire renewable energy development projects
- The eligible technologies for this round are solar PV, onshore wind, and energy storage

Dominion Energy Virginia (DEV) has launched its annual request for proposals (RFP) round seeking applications for new solar, onshore wind and energy storage development projects in the US state of Virginia.
Eligible projects under the call can be vanilla solar PV and onshore wind, or solar PV/onshore wind co-located with energy storage facilities, along with new standalone energy storage projects.
For solar energy projects, it is seeking proposals for utility-scale projects with over 3 MW installed capacity and distributed PV facilities that are 3 MW or less, all located within Virginia. Distributed PV facilities need to be located within DEV’s service territory to make use of existing grid capacity.
DEV will also admit proposals for mechanically complete projects that are 5 MW or less. It also encourages solar and onshore wind projects on brownfield locations such as former landfills or industrial uses.
The US utility aims to acquire these projects to be able to support the future energy needs of its customers, aligned with its targets in the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). These projects will also enable it to meet the requirements of the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA).
DEV launched the RFP round on April 11, 2024. An informational webinar is scheduled for May 9, 2024. The company follows a rolling approach to the RFP, meaning it accepts proposals on a continuous basis throughout the year. Details are available on DEV’s website.
Projects shortlisted in this round will move to the next round wherein DEV will issue a separate RFP seeking proposals for power purchase agreements (PPA) on October 1, 2024.
