- bp has announced senior leadership changes, including for its renewable energy business
- Its gas and low-carbon energy lead Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath is retiring from the company
- She is being replaced by William Lin who has been working with bp for 28 years
Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, who has been heading the gas and low-carbon energy business for the British oil and gas multinational bp since 2022, is on her way out. She will be replaced by bp’s internal resource William Lin.
After over 30 years of experience in the global energy industry, she is now retiring from bp and her executive career. Dotzenrath joined bp from RWE Renewables where she was the CEO (see New Chief For BP’s Gas & Low Carbon Energy Business).
Lin is currently the executive vice president (EVP) for regions, corporates and solutions. A long-time resource at bp, having been working with the British group for 28 years, Lin has held senior leadership roles across the world including Asia Pacific, Egypt and the US.
At one point, Lin was also the head of bp group’s Chief Executive Office. As the COO in the previous upstream division, he was responsible for all oil and gas regions across the portfolio.
“William brings extensive experience, expertise, and leadership to gas & low carbon energy – a key part of our portfolio. He has a proven track record of delivery, managing complex relationships and deals – effectively leading teams to build resilient businesses,” said bp CEO Murray Auchincloss while announcing the change.
Auchincloss also thanked Dotzenrath saying, “Anja has made a hugely positive and lasting impact, building a world class team and low carbon business platform and leading and implementing the right low carbon strategy for bp for the long term.”
The group has also announced other management changes for the technology function, saying that it is simplifying its organizational structure to reduce duplication and reporting line complexity.
By 2030, the fossil-fuel giant targets to develop around 50 GW of net renewable generating capacity globally, up from 3.3 GW in 2021. Solar is a big part of this target and bp is advancing in this space through its solar energy arm Lightsource bp.
