Anesco gets planning approval for UK projects; Scatec’s Ukraine solar plants go off the grid; Glennmont acquires 161 MW solar from Grupotec; EnBW commissions 300 MW solar in Germany; Helpe has completed construction of 204 MW Kozani solar park in Greece.
Anesco gets planning approval for 55 MW in UK: Anesco has secured planning approval for 3 solar parks with 55 MW combined capacity in the UK. The first of the projects, 10 MW High Meadow 2 Solar Plant is scheduled to enter construction in April 2022 in Stockton-on-Tees. Moat Farm with 25 MW in Aylesbury and Woodwalton with 20 MW in Cambridgeshire are expected to enter construction by the end of this year. Anesco said these projects are part of its 600 MW pipeline of new solar and storage projects at the planning and ready-to-build (RTB) stage.
Scatec’s Ukraine solar plants not operational: Norway’s Scatec has said its solar power plants in Ukraine are still intact and can be operated remotely. However, these are currently not delivering power due to curtailment restrictions issued by the grid operator following the Russian invasion in the country. Management said it has mobilized an emergency response organization for its 66 employees that work at its 5 solar power plants with 336 MW combined capacity in Ukraine’s central and southern parts. This organization is assisting the employees including for transportation, accommodation and other immediate support. Scatec said it is monitoring the situation and is ready to deliver power when asked to do so. Currently it is ‘uncertain when delivery can be resumed’.
Glennmont acquires 161 MW solar in Spain: Glennmont Partners has acquired 161 MW solar portfolio from Grupotec for which the latter will provide construction and operations services. The agreement is a continuation of Glennmont’s 473 MW solar acquisition from Grupotec in September 2021 and takes their total PV capacity in Spain to 634 MW. The 473 MW capacity will be integrated into Glennmont’s independent power producer (IPP) BNZ that it launched in 2021. These projects are expected to reach RTB stage in 2022 and 2023.
EnBW commissions 300 MW PV in Germany: German electricity utility EnBW Energie Baden- Württemberg AG has energized 2 x 150 MW solar power projects in the country, that together form a 500 MW solar cluster east of Berlin. The projects entered construction in December 2021 (see EnBW Building 300 MW Subsidy Free Solar In Germany). The Alttrebbin and Gottesgabe projects are equipped with a battery storage component of 3.9 MWh each, making it the 1st time EnBW said it is using the technology. While the projects have started generating initial power, these are expected to come fully online by the end of March 2022. Together the projects have deployed a total of around 700,000 bifacial solar modules.
204 MW solar park in Greece nearing completion: Greece’s Hellenic Petroleum (Helpe) says it has completed the construction of a 204 MW solar park in Kozani, whose grid connection and commercial operations start is expected in Q1/2022. It has also completed the acquisition of 16 MW operational PV parks in Q1/2022.
