  • Engie has commissioned its 200 MW AC solar power plant in India’s Gujarat
  • Located in Raghanesda Solar Power Park, the facility has GUVNL as its offtaker for 25 years
  • The ADB backed project is equipped with JinkoSolar and LONGi Solar modules and Huawei inverters

France headquartered global energy company Engie has grown its total portfolio in India to over 1.1 GW of solar PV and 280 MW of wind power in the form of 17 projects, with the commissioning of its 2nd largest solar PV project in the country having 200 MW AC/290 MW DC capacity.

It has commissioned the project through its special purpose vehicle (SPV) Electro Solaire Private Limited (ESPL). The company won the 200 MW capacity under a competitive auction conducted by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) which is also the offtaker for close to 546 GWh the project is expected to generate annually for the next 25 years. It quoted INR 2.65 per kWh to win the project (see INR 2.65/kWh Lowest Tariff For 700 MW Gujarat Tender).

The project has come up within Raghanesda Solar Power Park in Gujarat and is equipped with JinkoSolar and LONGi Solar modules along with string inverters from Huawei. The project has been constructed by Indian EPC company Sterling & Wilson as balance of plant contractor; it will also be in charge of operation and maintenance for 5 years.

In September 2020, Engie secured $65.5 million from the Asian Development Bank to construct the 200 MW facility (see ADB Backs Engie For 200 MW Indian Solar Project).
