• Azerbaijan’s state Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources has announced commissioning of parts of its Pirallahi solar power plant
  • 1.1 MW was inaugurated on July 21, 2017 in the suburbs of the country’s Baku region
  • The system has 4,400 solar panels installed with each solar panel having a power rating of 250 W
  • The plant will provide the local population with an alternative and renewable source of energy

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the first part of the Pirallahi Solar Power Project on July 21, 2017.  

The station located in the suburbs of Baku is targeted to reach capacity of 12.8 MW in 2020. It is equipped with 4,400 solar panels with each panel having power of 250 W, as per CBC news. Work on the project started 3 years back.

According to the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources, the project aims to provide the population and social facilities with energy from local, alternative and renewable energy sources in the Pirallahi region.
