Ecoprogetti’s 50 MW line in Gujarat: Italian solar PV manufacturing equipment maker Ecoprogetti has installed a 50 MW state-of-the-art module production line at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) in Gujarat. The Italian company said this line is capable of producing the latest generation of PV panels. It will serve as a hub for research and development, industrial consultancy, and solar irradiance data analysis.
Ecoprogetti’s Managing Director India Rajen Shah said the production lines installed for academic institutions provide young students hands-on experience in PV technology, seamlessly integrating it into their academic curriculum. The 50 MW line was inaugurated in the presence of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman and Managing Director and the President of PDEU, Mukesh Ambani. RIL is itself coming up with a gigafactory for solar panels with its New Energy Giga Complex scheduled for commissioning in H2/CY2024 (see India Solar PV News Snippets).
SJVN’s 100 MW win: Indian hydropower company SJVN Limited has secured the full quoted capacity of 100 MW solar power project in a Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) auction. It will develop the project at a solar park being developed by Gujarat Industrial Power Corporation Limited in Khavda. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) will execute the project on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis for a tariff of INR 2.54 ($0.031)/kWh. It will be built for around INR 5.5 billion ($66.2 million), the company announced in a stock exchange filing.

CLINT gets solar power plant: CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT), the 1st Indian property trust in Asia, has commissioned a 21 MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu for captive consumption. This is the company’s maiden captive solar power plant in the Indian state. It will help meet the power supply needs of 2 million sq. ft. equivalent of office space where it will cover the electricity supply for the common areas of CLINT’s assets in Tamil Nadu. The company says it will increase the company’s green energy usage by more than 70% and bring down its need to purchase power. The facility has the potential to be expanded by an additional 8 MW to take it to 29 MW in total. CLINT’s parent CapitaLand Investments (CLI) aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for scope 1 and 2 by 2050.

Bifacial modules for tea estate: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 1,040 kW bifacial solar power plant for Asia’s largest tea estate in West Bengal. TPREL says this is the 1st ever installation of on-ground bifacial modules in Eastern India. The Chengmari Tea Estate comprises around 1,900 modules that are expected to generate 1.5 million units of clean energy annually.
