JYT Secures Contracts For 1.9 Billion Silicon Wafers

Demand For Monocrystalline Silicon Wafer Increasing; JYT Corporation Laps Up 2 Contracts Worth RMB 8.95 Billion From Tongwei & Runergy

JYT Secures Contracts For 1.9 Billion Silicon Wafers

  • JYT Corporation has secured 2 new orders for a total of 1.9 billion monocrystalline silicon wafer supply
  • Runergy will procure 946 million wafers for a total value of RMB 3.689 billion over a 3-year period
  • Tongwei Solar (Chengdu) has placed an order for 960 million wafers worth RMB 5.261 billion

Beijing Jingyuntong Technology Co., Ltd. (JYT Corporation), the Chinese solar wafer and equipment maker, has secured 2 big contracts for monocrystalline silicon wafer supply worth RMB 8.95 billion, including tax. This is the company’s 3rd new big order for wafers in recent times, after JA Solar signed up JYT under a 3-year contract to supply 1,260 million monocrystalline silicon wafers for RMB 4.8 billion (see Long Term Raw Material Supply Deals For JA Solar).

Of the new contracts signed, one is with Jiangsu Runyang Yueda Photovoltaic Technology Co. (Runergy) that has placed an order for 946 million monocrystalline silicon wafers. Total value of the contract is estimated to be RMB 3.689 billion ($571 million). It entered the agreement through a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Another contract the company has signed is with Tongwei Solar (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. for 960 million monocrystalline silicon wafers. It shares the value of the deal as RMB 5.261 billion ($814 million).

The actual purchase price will be negotiated between JYT and its clients on a monthly basis. Both orders need to be delivered between January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023.

JYT is expanding its integrated monocrystalline ingot and wafer production capacity by 24 GW comprising 210mm wafers after it signed an agreement with Leshan city administration in November 2020 (see JYT To Expand Monocrystalline Wafer Capacity By 24 GW).

So far, Runergy and Tongwei have been relying for wafer supply contracts on LONGi, which, however, is not offering 210mm products.  A year back in January 2020, LONGi secured 3.82 million units mono wafer supply contract with Runergy worth RMB 10.34 billion (see LONGi Signs RMB 10.34 Billion Wafer Supply Deal). Tongwei too has been buying wafers from LONGi and in September 2020 increased its wafer requirement with the company for 2021 by 1 billion taking total order value to 2.6 billion wafers (see Tongwei Places 1 Billion Wafer Order With LONGi).
