- NT Government to collaborate with Samsung C&T for a large-scale green energy project.
- The project would include large-scale renewable energy generation, transmission and storage including PV, wind, hydrogen and battery energy storage systems.

Australia’s Northern Territory Chief Minister Natasha Fyles has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction to develop a large-scale green energy project in the territory.
The company will be working closely with the NT Government to establish large-scale renewable energy generation, transmission and storage in the Northern Territory, including photovoltaic, wind, hydrogen and battery energy storage systems. A working group will also be formed comprising Samsung C&T and the NT Government to investigate the feasibility of a large-scale green energy project in the Northern Territory.
The MOU is valid for 2 years, during which suitable locations for the green energy projects will be identified. The Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct is one of the locations that will be highly considered. As part of this project, Samsung C&T will also look at establishing a substantial manufacturing hub.
Speaking about it, Chief Minister Natasha Fyles said, “Signing today’s green energy MOU with Samsung C&T, is a key step towards creating local jobs and significantly contributing to the Territory’s drive to become a hub for low emissions sustainable manufacturing.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Samsung C&T President & CEO of Engineering & Construction Group, SeChul Oh said, “The MOU establishes a collaborative partnership for building a prime hub dedicated to green energy production.”
Northern Territory’s ample solar resources and strategic geographic location serves as a compelling opportunity to cater to the growing demands for green energy in Asia and the Pacific. The clean energy produced is expected to help manufacturing companies, including Samsung affiliates and other global companies, transition to 100% renewable energy, and also give a major boost to Northern Territory’s economy.
