US headquartered solar module manufacturer First Solar, Inc. has expanded its Board of Directors with the addition of Anita Marangoly George who serves on the company’s Nominating and Governance, and Technology Committees, with effect from July 15, 2021.

First Solar’s CEO Mark Widmar hailed George’s climate finance and infrastructure experience across key global markets, and her passion for human capital development and sustainability as the reasons for her hire.

George is currently working as a strategic advisor to global pension fund Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec’s (CDPQ) global investment arm CDPQ Global, where she also served as the executive vice president and deputy head. Apart from working with CDPQ in various positions, she previously worked with the World Bank as a senior director for the latter’s global energy and extractives practice.

Before joining the World Bank, George worked with the group member International Finance Corporation (IFC) leading its efforts to finance infrastructure and natural resources projects across various regions. She was also instrumental in promoting Scaling Solar Program across various emerging markets.

Among other positions held by George, she has worked with Siemens Financial Services and the Steel Authority of India. A double masters in Economic Policy and Business Administration, George currently serves as a board member and is the president of the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
