  • Israel’s Teralight has announced plans to build a 250 MW solar power plant in the country
  • It will be equivalent to 1.2% of the country’s overall electricity capacity, and 5.2% of its green energy capacity
  • Teralight says this ‘national infrastructure project’ will come online by H1/2024-end

Jezreel Valley in Israel is set to host what is being touted to become the country’s largest solar PV project with 250 MW installed capacity, to be completed by local renewables company Teralight for an investment of INS 900 million ($246 million).

In November 2019, Shikun & Binui along with Belectric commissioned a 120 MW solar PV plant in Israel calling it the largest PV project in Israel (see Israel Gets Country’s ‘Largest’ Solar Project).

The 250 MW project should take over the title as local media reports this capacity is equivalent to 5.2% of Israel’s green energy capacity and 1.2% of its overall electricity capacity.

The Ta’anakh Solar Project is designed to supply clean electricity to more than 60,000 households when it comes online by the end of H1/2024. Teralight describes it as a national infrastructure project which it is building in cooperation with its project partner insurance, pension and financial firm Migdal Group, another financial firm Leumi Partners, and Moshavim Movement.

Israel expects renewable energy to account for 30% of its electricity mix by 2030, including solar PV to contribute a total of over 17 GW (see Israel Eying 17 GW+ Installed Solar By 2030).
