Offtake agreement for 300 MW project: Canadian-American multinational drinks and brewing company Molson Coors has joined the new Renewable Pathway Pilot Program of We Energies. The program allows We Energies’ large business customers to subscribe to and purchase energy from a renewable energy project in Wisconsin. Molson Coors has subscribed to 27 MW from the recently completed 300 MW Badger Hollow Solar Park under multi-year agreements. This power supply will offset the company’s power use at the State Street Brewery, Leinenkugel’s 10th Street Brewery, Watertown Hops Company, the Milwaukee corporate offices and additional smaller locations. We Energies says Molson Coors is the 1st company to join the pilot program.
More solar for Meta: Meta Platforms has signed 2 long-term Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for a 349 MW AC solar power plant in Missouri, US. Arevon Energy’s Kelso Solar Project will help support Meta’s local operations with 100% renewable energy. The project will be owned and operated by Arevon. Phase I of the project is scheduled to enter commercial operations in Q4/2025 to be followed by phase 2 in Q1/2026.
80 MW project online: Utility scale renewable energy company Vesper Energy has commissioned an 80 MW solar power plant in Ohio. The Nestlewood Solar Project is one among the first utility-scale solar facilities permitted, constructed and financed in Ohio. Located across Clermont and Brown Counties, it is one of the initial sites to qualify as an energy community under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), it stated. It offsets power for a leading online retailer as part of a power purchase agreement (PPA).
Canadian Solar modules for Super Bowl stadium: Canada-headquartered Canadian Solar says its solar modules helped power the Super Bowl LVIII match at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Held on February 11, 2024, it was the first-ever Super Bowl to be powered entirely by renewable energy. The project sourced its electricity from the 275 MW Arrow Canyon Solar and Energy Storage Project of EDF Renewables that’s equipped with over 600,000 Canadian Solar modules. “We are thrilled that our Arrow Canyon project successfully powered the first Super Bowl using renewable energy. However, what truly excites us is the attention it has brought to the viability and dependability of coupling solar power with advanced storage technologies, showcasing how renewable energy can seamlessly meet the demands of large-scale events and critical infrastructure,” said President and CEO of EDF Renewables North America, Tristan Grimbert.
